Linking to other websites and having other websites link to your site is a great way to get noticed online. Search engines view links like a voting system.

If a website links to your website, its like getting a vote for your business. If you link to a specific word that describes your business, you will have a better chance at coming up on search engines.

Your approval rating gains with every resource you develop and people will begin to trust your company when they cross-reference your sources. But these links are only being counted if it comes from a relevant source. You have to be specific about your link partners and choose relevant and quality sites to link with. Here are few tips:

1. Never send any unsolicited mail asking for a reciprocal link or run a campaign for link exchange. Some links may reduce the weight of your site.

2. Stay away from Stone Age practice of adding irrelevant directories or huge resource pages etc. to attract links.

3. Be natural as much you can, if you link some one or gain a link must be from a source supporting to your website contents.

4. Be cautious, your link building practices may cost huge for your company.

The Bottom Line: Simply get out of Link hell and let the things works themselves in a natural way.

Doing the work online to link to companies and/or services you are not in direct competition with but provide similar or supportive goods/services will broaden your audience on the web, bringing more hits to your website and ultimately, increasing your online business profits and online presence.
