Today every one is awaiting for outcome of Microsoft’s bid to acquire Yahoo merger, if it succeed it will be most high profile deal on web space. Mergers and acquisition is not new, we have witnessed more acquisitions in past. Here are few high profile Internet Deals which you may find an interesting read:
- Back to year 1998, Microsoft’s buys Hotmail from an Indian technocrat Sabeer Bhatia for $400 Million. This was one of the most high profile deal, but failed to make it the market leader in email space.
- Year 2000 we have witnessed one of the most talkative deal of America when AOL buys Time Warner for $164 Billion creating AOL Time Warner. Earlier AOL has swallowed Netscape, which is merged with Time-Warner later on.
- Year 2002 E-commerce giant eBay buys PayPal for %1.5 Billion. Paypal is still one of the most popular merchant service provider in world.
- Year 2005 News Corporation acquires MySpace parent Intermix for $ 580 Million.
- Year 2006, Google Acquire YouTube for $1.6 Billion, probably the most profitable deal amongst all.
- And in Year 2007, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts snaps up First Data Corp for $1.5 Billion.
Now, mugged relentlessly by Google’s continuing strides and dominance in the market, Microsoft and Yahoo are expecting to team up for a fight.
